The Eternal..

A friend of mine, Matthew, is a comic writer and I'm posting one of his comics in here. He's still working on it but chapter 1 is over.

Let me introduce you to the comic. Its title page is apparently still "under construction" so I'm just posting a pic that seemed good. And the title is.....

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Our story goes back years ago and is staged in the province of Tereknict,
ruled by two very powerful and just as inimical empires, the Sylvian and
the Armadaggion empires. The two fought many bloody wars on their
quest for provincial domination. And after several dark years, the wars
ended and peace was brought to Tereknict. But unseen trouble is
brewing, threatening to throw them back to the time of the wars.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                              Two friends.........
Bonds stronger than that of natural brothers........
                                 Matty and Mack........
They were slaves of the Sylvian army but broke free and now live as free men. Both young and wild, they roam the countrysides of Tereknict without any obligation weighing them down, enjoying their free life. And then one day they rescue, a beautiful young girl from an ogre. The girl introduces herself as Sierra, heir to the throne of the Armadaggion empire. From her the two learn of a plan underway, a plan by which the Sylvian empire could take over the world or lead to its complete annihilation. Its up to the three to stop the Sylvian empire.  Their stand against the mighty and cruel Slylvians brings them to the face of danger and threaten to destroy all that they hold dear.

Belle- A Retelling of The Sleeping Beauty

Another book from one of my favourite authors and I finished it in a day.  Here Belle is a good wood carver( No, I'm not kidding) and she can 'see' what 'lies at the heart of the wood she holds'. Belle still  has her parents and her sisters are kind. Okayyy, that definitely weirded me out. That part I could tolerate. Another thing is that for the first hundred pages or so of the book, there was not much said about the beast or anything.
Even though I like this book, Belle's view on Beauty was weird and I didn't quite understand it. The real action part of the book is really less and it seems to me like real short. The author should have taken time to explain things about the beast, and his feelings too. I mean we know Belle's thing about Beauty. But what about the beast? Nothing personal about him has been explained. If he has spent all his time in the woods, then he must have some strong feelings regarding his state. He lost his family and friends. Right? But no mention of it.

Then the rose detail seen in the Disney movie.

That was too good to lose.I did like the book, mind you. But I'm just saying that there was real potential for the book that the author failed to use. The beauty and the beast is my favorite (ever) princess story.
How can anyone resist this look?

The basic story line ( of the retelling) is amazing but everything else needed a lot of working on.

A Walk to Remember..

Ok..I took the advice of my friends and finally went and read the book. I cant say that I'm impressed very much. To be honest I figured out the plot and maybe like half the ending , 20 pgs into the book. Or maybe that is just me. I have imagined a story like this, but that might be because there was absolutely nothing to do in Geography periods of 5th, 6th and 7th grade. Any way my favorite part is the prologue. The rest was like open to me. I dont know if anyone feels the same way.

So if you ask me if I think whether you should read the book or not. I would shrug. Maybe its just me. I wonder if I can turn this book into something else. I mean if I had written this book, maybe this would be the way it would turn out to be. While reading this book I was half freaking out- How the hell did this guy know this story? I imagined something like this once. But there is the fact that I would not have the patience to sit and write long long stories. What I like BEST is the quote on the book cover given below.
See below for the Goodreads  review..( Not Mine)

House of the Night series.

Personally, if you ask me whether or not you should read this book, I would say no. Keep away from this book if you are a lover of great books like Hunger Games, Chemical Garden, Matched, Harry Potter etc. Don't touch this book with a ten foot pole
                                             .

How do i know this? Because I read it. Don't get me wrong. I suffered through the first 4 or 5 books and I kept hoping the series would improve following the example of the other books of P.C Cast. But unfortunately, my wish did not come true. By then I had to know how this crappy excuse for a series would turn out.
I do not mean to like, hurt the feelings of the lovers of this series but this tops the list of worst ever vamp stories. Seriously who swears like Zoey. It is designed for you to laugh at and mock her. The character that I could tolerate the most in the series is Kalona because he is the bad ass villain. And at the end of the 10Th book he decides to go all good on me. Ahhhhhh......

Oh my god.... I just found out that there is a GRAPHIC novel for the series. How in the world did the series become graphic worthy?  *disbelief* The graphic part is soo not appealing.  In the book they characters are casted in such a way that they seem to be trying desperately to seem like a normal teen. But then  the graphics sort of casts them as other-worldly. It is plain creepy.

Another thing I hated about the book was the part where the characters are named after either Greek of Roman goddesses. All the images of Nyx, Aphrodite are totally rewritten. I hated that. And Nyx as in this series shows partiality. She appears to Zoey and Zoey talks to her mostly on a really familiar level and when she appears to the rest of the HON people they are all awed. Nyx as far as I see never visits any of the lesser talented fledglings.

What I liked about the series is the novella about Dragon and I intend to read the novellas about Lenobia, Neferet and Kalona.
