I recently heard a quote that made me don my thinking cap. This is from a book- A Walk To Remember by Nicholas Sparks. The quote is ' It all comes down to who is by your side'.
A true saying. It doesn't matter whether you are a king or a lowly beggar the person who stands beside you can influence you a lot. Even if you are a rich man on the high rungs of the society, you cant have any peace unless you are sure that there is at least one person on whom you can trust. Being poor too can be bearable if there is someone like you to lend a shoulder to your tears. The person by your side can lift your spirits or crash it down. Having a person you can trust makes a big difference in your life.
In one or my textbooks, As You Like It ( Shakespeare) to be exact there is a line where it is said that the blind goddess of fortune is the one who lift men to happiness or drop them into despair. From the point of view of a atheist, this is false. It the people whose lives are connected to yours that give you happiness. I momentarily saw Jake( the kid from Touch) holding the red thread of fate or something. Anyway, the reason why I say this is because the people by your side can choose the way they deal with you , warmly or with hate. And that in turn molds you.
MY OTHER FAVORITE QUOTES:::
“The reasonable man adapts himself to the world: the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man.”
― George Bernard Shaw, Man and Superman
